Was it perfect? No, but compared to other places in Aguas Calientes, it’s a great value just a five minute walk from the train station and close to other amenities. My husband Peter and I were pleased with our accommodations during our two night stay at Wachuma. For the price you pay, you don't get much, unfortunately everything is overpriced and this was one of the cheaper options.

I would recommend this hotel overall for location, but as everything is close in this town, rather spend a bit more and get a cleaner and better maintained hotel.

The bed covers also had bad stains on them - at least the sheets were clean and pillows were very comfortable - the feather duvet was amazing, pity it was actually too hot to use it! The tv was very good, was the only town we stayed in that had quite a few English channels and showing movies. We had nice towels on our first night and got fresh ones the next day - unfortunately these were so threadbare and scratchy that I couldn't use them. The small window opens onto the lobby area, so not alot of privacy and can be noisy! A suggestion would be to have a bin in the room as well for rubbish, as the bin in the bathroom is for your toilet paper (cannot put toilet paper in the toilet) and can be quite gross (luckily it was cleaned each day!). It's also a bit dilapidated with wires sticking out and fittings that are loose.

The room was a good size and pretty basic and looked clean enough, but there was lots of mould everywhere in the shower, and on roof. Eggs were good and freshly squeezed orange juice was amazing. Breakfast was average - had very stale bread the one morning and weird coffee. She did look tired though and we felt sorry for her - think she was the only one there and did all the cleaning and check in and got up early to make breakfast specially for us. The owner / hostess Rosa was very nice and helpful - she always greeted us with a smile and asked how we were. On Monday morning on our way out they had a very loud band / procession practice that went on for ages - entertaining if you are not sleeping! The alley can be a bit noisy as it echoes, but keeping the window closed helped. Luckily we were there over the weekend, so had no noise from the school right behind the hostal. We were on the first floor and had amazing views of the mountains at the back. It faces the river and all the resturants and Machu Picchu bus stop is close by. This hotel is right in town, about 2 min easy walk from the train station and market.
